Gimme a break!

The President, after sending hundreds of people to their deaths in TX, now says "The case of Terri Schiavo raises complex issues. Yet in instances like this one, where there are serious questions and substantial doubts, our society, our laws, and our courts should have a presumption in favor of life. Those who live at the mercy of others deserve our special care and concern. It should be our goal as a nation to build a culture of life, where all Americans are valued, welcomed, and protected - and that culture of life must extend to individuals with disabilities."

Um, what about all those people on death row who, because of inept counsel or lack of resources to pay for DNA testing, are condemned to die for crimes they may not have committed?

Greetings Chaz... I have a question for you... Why do you believe the mass media (the big guys) and the politrickcians are yet to focus on the fact that this woman who so many are mourning over became sick with anorexia from the jump. Shouldn't we as a society look to change so many things we take for granted, one of these being the constant images of "thin as in", and big and thick looks sick, mentality. Every magazine at the check out line is telling women to lose weight, and quick fix diet plans... Should not some of this media circus reflect on how she got sick in the first place?

Well, I understand where you're coming from, but the issue wasn't her illness, but her right to die, regardless of how she got that way. And thanks to the GOP, it became even larger than that - it became a referendum on the separation of powers between the judiciary, the executive and the legislative branches. So in the end, it wasn't about this poor woman any more, but on what we are as a nation.
