My pet theory on this: Rove's little dirty trick team. Didn't he, some years ago in another campaign, self-sabotage? I seem to recall - maybe even back when he was running for College Republican Pres, can't remember for sure.
So there's that...
I also heard that the first comments calling into question the authenticity of the memos was on a blog even before 60 Minutes was done - which would mean that plogger had either 1) seen the documents up close; 2) had been fed what to post; or 3) had incredible eyesight, a digital recorder, and an incredibly quick mind and deep storehouse of knowledge of mid to late century American typewriters.
Stinks like a set-up to me -- and a real handy way to innoculate Bush: undermine the most explosive charge and everything coming out after is thrown into question, even dismissed.
