The other day at work, someone asked me why I'm a Democrat. My immediate, smart-assed response was because I'm black! But so are Condi, Colin and Armstrong, so that won't do. I guess I'm a Democrat because I feel that government is there to help the less fortunate, to enable everyone to have access to the American Dream, whatever that may be. Last week, Kerry quoted Langston Hughes's "Let America Be America Again". This states beautifully why I'm a Democrat!
